Apple Butter, Yumm!

I'll continue with my four legged friends later this week.

I wanted to share with you what I made this weekend. A friend brought us some homemade apple butter and biscuits in to work on Thusday, " It was so yummy." I wanted to try to make it myself. I had never tried this recipe before.
I'm sharing just in case you want to try some yourself.

Wine sap apples

Crock Pot Apple Butter
8 cups apples - sliced and unpeeled ( I used Wine saps)
4 cups sugar
4 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cloves
Stir all ingredients together. Place in crock pot; uncovered, cook on high for 8 to 10 hours. It isn't necessary to stir. Put in sterilized jars and seal in water. Bath 10 minutes. May also kept in refrigerator or freeze. Should make about 12 (8oz.) jars.

apples

I did stir mine, several time ... just couldn't leave it alone. I put mine in the freezer, in little bags. Didn't have any small jars, but, I love that idea , they would make great gifts.
I ran mine through the blender to make it smoother. It was a little lumpy.

That sounds so good and so easy. When you said about canning, I decided right then I couldn't do it, but you added about freezing and now I might try it. Thanks for sharing and that last pic looks so yummy!
